THE ADVOCACY FOR AGRIC BUDGET INCREASE to 5% PROJECT

Strengthening the capacity of civil society organizations and the media as advocates to engage the government in tracking Agric budget expenditure in Imo, Abia, and Ebonyi States is essential for translating commitments from those in positions of power into increased Agric budget outcomes. USAID's Advocacy for Agric budget increase to 5%, a five-year project implemented to PALLADIUM and CARA Development Foundation, is mobilizing communities, media and strengthening civil society organizations to raise public awareness and promote transparency and accountability on Agric budget implementation in the 3 states of intervention. The project’s advocacy and accountability initiatives are propelling changes in Agric budgets increase that affect Imo, Abia and Ebonyi States’ daily lives.

CARA Development Foundation

CARA is a non-profit development organization in Imo State founded in 2014, registered with CAC, with vision of a world with informed, healthy and wealthy people and a mission to help women, young people and their communities to take actions to improve their health, create wealth and positively impact their society. CARA has experience in advocacy engagements for VAPP and OGP in Imo State, facilitation of economic development programmes focused on agricultural value chains and agri-businesses. Has experience in cluster participation in addition to safe motherhood/adolescent reproductive health and rights. CARA has capacity in project management across the entire Niger Delta, is skilled in development research and has maintained years of relationship with PIND Foundation and Markets Development in the Niger Delta (MADE) due to competent financial management and programming capacity, partnered with Imo State Action Committee on AIDS for EMTCT interventions, World Health Organization (WHO) on Risk Communication and Community Engagement on COVID-19. CARA facilitates Organizational Development Programmes for other CSOs including Strategic Planning, Advocacy Strategy, Organizational Capacity Assessment, Project Evaluation and training facilitation.

The Foundation has Special Consultative with the United Nations Economic and Social Council. Vicar Hope Foundation is involved in skill acquisition training, women empowerment, gender based violence and sickle cell disease management and counseling. It has headquarters in Umuahia, Abia State, Nigeria where it also operates a sickle cell care and diagnostics centre.
